Chelsea hand decision to defender over proposed surprise £18m Premier League move

As if an absolutely crunch clash away at Liverpool tonight wasn’t enough for the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern to deal with, the Blues at the bar have been met with some thoroughly surprising reports from the Independent

According to their recent exclusive, the west London giants have been rocked by Bournemouth, who are said to have tabled an £18m bid for defender Nathan Ake. Yes, that’s right, £18m.

Having started the campaign on loan with the Cherries, the Dutchman proved mightily impressive on the south coast during his short stint under Eddie Howe’s stewardship, doing so well to be recalled by Antonio Conte. While he’s never likely to be a first-choice at Stamford Bridge right now, the 21-year-old is a hugely rated talent.

Still, the nature of Bournemouth’s bid is understood to have shocked those in west London, who have now reportedly left the decision open to him as to whether he makes a permanent move. The bid is not thought to have been rejected just yet, as Conte is not thought to see Ake as an indispensable member of the squad.

The Chelsea fans in the bar simply cannot believe that sort of money would be bandied about and certainly hope top brass at the Bridge allow him to go.
