Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are breathing a sigh of relief this evening as they are begging to hear news that one of their key stars has revealed that he is set to stay at Stamford Bridge and work with Antonio Conte.
Reports in the Telegraph today suggest that Diego Costa has had a change of heart and is now looking forward to the new season, playing under Antonio Conte at Chelsea.
It was reported last week that the Spanish international had demanded to leave and was set to return to his former club, Athletico Madrid, for a fee of around £40m.
However, Costa is now set to stay at Stamford Bridge and, reportedly, has a dream to play alongside Alvaro Morata for the Blues.
Despite having signed Belgian striker, Michy Batshuyai, last week incoming manager, Antonio Conte, is still looking to bring in a third striker to bolster his attacking force.
Costa struggled at times last season but saw a resurgence in form under interim boss, Gus Hiddink, and is perfect type of striker to fit into a Conte style system.
Chelsea fans, what do you think? Is this news a relief or were you never that bothered in the first place as to whether Costa stays or goes? Let us know in the comments below…
