Chelsea handed timely boost by key man as title run-in approaches final acts

Our Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are daring to dream at the moment with there being every chance that they could end the season with a domestic double under their belts.

Indeed, despite going into the weekend and their FA Cup semi-final with Spurs in a bit of a bad way, they duly responded like champions to see out a 4-2 win.

That, then, is surely going to spur them on for the rest of the season with their next fixture a league game with Southampton this week.

Indeed, the match at Stamford Bridge is going to be crucial in terms of the league crown and the destination it ends up going towards with the Blues being handed a boost by Marcos Alonso.

The Spaniard has been in good form this season but is coming back from illness – something that kept him out of the recent match with Man Utd at Old Trafford.

As quoted by The Daily Mail, though, he has revealed that he is back up to speed – at a crucial time for the Blues.

He said:

“I took a couple of days off and did not eat a lot. But I felt good against Spurs.

“I was a little bit tired in the first part of the game because it had been two weeks since I’d last played, but I’m ready for Tuesday.”

Good news for Chelsea, then, as they look to return to being champions of the Premier League this season.
