Chelsea fans enjoyed a great weekend in the Transfer Tavern, seeing many of their rivals drop points, but the week has started with a negative update on the transfer front.
The 24-year-old Italian midfielder has been identified by Bayern as the ideal successor in their midfield to the ageing Xabi Alonso, although the report adds the Bavarian giants can expect to have to pay around £70m for the midfielder.
That figure may hand Chelsea a boost, as the financial strength of the Premier League is the mightiest on the continent, but Ancelotti’s personal touch has put the Bundesliga leaders at the front of the queue in the race to sign Verratti.
Tied down to the club until 2021, PSG stand on steady ground in any negotiations for the future of Verratti but our landlord believes this is the summer the Italian could move on, although he doesn’t expect him to move to London.
