Sensational summer transfers are really what keeps us going here in the Transfer Tavern when the Premier League action has dried up.
Our local Chelsea fans have been swamped in major rumours as the club gear up to welcome Antonio Conte to Stamford Bridge within the next few months, and they don’t get much bigger than this one.
According to Spanish daily AS, the Blues could line up an absolutely astonishing swap deal with Real Madrid for Colombian star James Rodriguez.
The 24-year old has fallen out of favour under Zinedine Zidane in the Spanish capital and has been linked with major moves to Manchester City and Arsenal.
However, the report claims the West Londoners could have the advantage in the race for the former Monaco star as they weigh up whether or not to offer Eden Hazard in return.
Like Rodriguez, the Belgian has suffered a major dip in form this season and has been strongly linked with various big money moves away.
Would James for Hazard be a fair swap? Who is getting the better deal?
