Our Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to a potentially pivotal January this season and could be set for some busy times off the pitch, with The Independent reporting Valencia have agreed a deal in principle for John Obi Mikel.
The Blues have been flying this season in the Premier League and could go a sensational eight points clear if they beat Tottenham on Wednesday night.
And, whilst they won’t have won the league by recording such a victory – they’ll certainly be looking almost impossible to catch for the rest of the year.
Antonio Conte, to his credit, has found a system that works consisting of a core set of players and that has meant Mikel has been out in the cold.
He has a deal agreed with Valencia, then, but there is a slight problem thanks to the Spanish side’s financial position.
According to the report, the men from the Mestalla want to sign Simone Zaza from West Ham, too, but thanks to the Financial Fair Play rules, they can only sign one of the players.
Our landlord thinks they should go for Mikel, though, with Zaza being really poor this season.
