After a truly miserable season at Stamford Bridge, the Chelsea fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern have been praying for a major summer of activity to contest with the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City.
With Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola set to arrive in Manchester over the few months, its fair to say the Blues have become lost in the attention that swells around the city.
Knowing Roman Abramovich, he won’t be too pleased at that.
Now, according to the Sun, the Russian tycoon is hell-bent on avoiding another catastrophic season and will embark on a major summer of activity.
As Antonio Conte gears up to arrive at the fallen English champions, chief scout Piet De Visser has revealed he expects to be as busy as he was between 2003-2008, when the club where at their most lavish period of spending.
“Chelsea will have a VERY busy summer”, revealed the Dutchman largely credited with unearthing the likes of Ronaldo and Romario.
“Abramovich is desperate not to have another terrible season. I’ll be as busy as I was in 2003-2008.”
Naturally, considering the fact Conte has been such an influence on Italian football, the West London giants have been linked with top Serie A based players such as Radja Nainggolan and Gonzalo Higuain.
Will Chelsea be able to keep up with the two Manchester club next season?
