It’s barely been the most productive window for the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern despite watching the Premier League champions splash over £100m this summer.
Indeed, Antonio Conte’s squad looks really rather threadbare at the moment and, while they stormed the league title last term, life back in the Champions League will invariably stretch his resources next time around.
So, it’s fair to say the Blues in the bar are eager to see more recruits brought in over the next few weeks. Well then, reports from Sky Sports have certainly proven interesting.
They claim the English champions are keen on a move for Valencia defender Joao Cancelo this summer, having reportedly scouted him extensively during the U21 European Championships a few month or two ago.
The Portuguese would be able to provide Victor Moses with competition in the right-wing back role, though Tottenham Hotspur are another party previously linked with a move for the 23-year-old as they look to replace Kyle Walker.
Having joined Los Che permanently in 2015, the former Benfica man has impressed our eagle eyed punters in the bar with his exploits in La Liga and they certainly hope he arrives to help their title defence.
It’s imperative Chelsea get some new players in ASAP. With that in mind, Cancelo would be an astute addition and someone able to improve the Blues’ options ahead of a much busier schedule.
Hopefully for the Blues in our bar, he can be signed, with this window not looking good for Chelsea at the moment.
