Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have spent the week discussing the future of their goalkeepers and a new name has been thrown into the mix as a potential recruit.
Italian outlet Calcio Mercato state that Chelsea are keeping tabs on Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perrin, with the 24-year-old having worked with Antonio Conte before with Italy’s national side.
However, a move is unlikely to go ahead this window, despite the impending exit of Asmir Begovic, but Conte will keep tabs on Perrin during the next few months – potentially looking to land his services if Thibaut Courtois leaves this summer.
With two serious knee injuries in the past 12 months, Perrin will have to prove his long-term fitness but could be an option for Conte to consider, although a new goalkeeper will arrive before Tuesday’s deadline as the Blues edge closer to an exit for Asmir Begovic.
Our landlord isn’t convinced by Perrin’s injury record and the fans are also concerned, as they reel off a list of more capable recruits.
