It’s fair to say life is pretty good amongst the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern right now, having watched their side shoot to the very top of the Premier League under Antonio Conte.
The Italian has seemingly sorted out a defence that was once widely lambasted as ridiculously weak, while also turning David Luiz into one of the most resolute in the Premier League.
In fact, their defence is so good right now, that even John Terry can’t get back into the team.
Still, reports from the London Evening Standard have given the west London locals propping up the bar reasons to smile.
They’ve revealed the 35-year-old does want to sign a new deal, despite his reduced role right now, as his contract winds down at his boyhood charges.
Clubs in China, Turkey and the United States are said to be targeting him and Terry would be free to negotiate with foreign teams in the New Year.
A legend in SW6, the former England captain is one of the most popular names amongst the Chelsea fans in the Tavern and life under Conte has been mixed with him thus far.
Still, Terry’s revealed he still has the hunger to fight and wants to win further titles with Chelsea.
”I still want to carry on playing because that hunger is still there to be the best to win trophies for my football club”, he said.
”I have been at Chelsea for a long time and want to give the fans something to cheer about at the end of the season.”
Can Chelsea really get another season out of Terry? Let us know below…
