There are gasps around the Football Transfer Tavern as it is declared to punters that Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos is a surprise summer transfer target for Chelsea.
Charles Perrin of the Express explains that the Spanish international has already been linked with a shock move to fierce rivals Barcelona although that seems unlikely.
With Madrid’s coach Jose Mourinho set to depart the Bernabeu in the summer, the versatile defender’s future at the club looks uncertain and he has now been tipped to make the switch to England.
Speculation has been fuelled with news that the 101 cap Spanish international is now hiring a tutor to build on his English language skills which Perrin suggests could see him ending up at Stamford Bridge with Mourinho as his coach.
The 27-year-old is very highly regarded in world football after collecting a huge amount of trophies after joining Madrid in 2005 from Sevilla and it would be massive coup if the Blues could lure him to Stamford Bridge.
However Perrin seems to have forgot that Ramos and Mourinho don’t get on and have publicly fallen out this season and despite his fine ability on the field, I’d imagine that the politics off it would prevent the two working together in the future.
