With things going well on the field of play right now, the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been in joyous mood of late.
In fact, Antonio Conte is seemingly doing SUCH a good job that the west London locals are prepared to forget all about their rather controversial loan policy, with their current crop of stars playing so well of late.
One of those to have been farmed out elsewhere pretty much since he arrived is Ghanian international Christian Atsu, currently plying his trade with Championship leaders Newcastle United.
The 24-year-old has endured a frustrating time of things since moving to England, barely getting a game during ill-fated loan stints with Everton and Bournemouth.
However, he appears to be enjoying his time in black and white, having notched twice in three second-tier starts for the Magpies.
Now, according to the Shields Gazette, the former Porto youngster has dropped a hint he could be keen on a permanent move to Tyneside.
“I had a difficult two seasons – I wasn’t playing a lot,” said the Ghana international.
“I’m very grateful to Rafa for giving me this opportunity. I just want to keep working hard and helping the team, and we’ll see what happens.”
The report further claims Rafa Benitez is weighing up a concrete move for Atsu in the New Year, though he is due to depart for the African Cup of Nations.
Should Atsu have been handed more of a chance at Chelsea? Let us know below…
