Chelsea must eclipse Arsenal’s Aubameyang deal with acquisition of prolific £31.5m-rated striker

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that Antonio Conte can secure the signing of a new striker by the end of the day to support Alvaro Morata.

Chelsea have been rumoured with the signing of a whole host of different strikers throughout the window so far, but none of the rumours so far have resulted in the confirmation of an official transfer. At present, Antonio Conte has Morata and Michy Batshuayi at his disposal at centre-forward, but neither striker is yet to fully convince The Blues faithful that they have the ability to leads Chelsea’s line week-in week-out.

Morata started the season in very impressive form and he won plaudits throughout the British media for his complete displays at the spearhead of Chelsea’s attack. In recent weeks, Morata’s dip in form has significantly tarnished his reputation, and the supporters have called for new acquisitions as a result.

Elsewhere in London, Arsenal have also been calling for the acquisition of a new striker, namely Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and according to The Guardian, their prayers have been answered as Arsenal have reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund to sign the Gabon international, although the deal hinges on Dortmund’s ability to sign a replacement.

If Chelsea are to sign a new striker before the window closes this month, then they should be looking to land a player of genuine quality, such as Aubameyang, with a proven record in one of Europe’s most prestigious top-leagues. With that being said, Conte would be wise to consider the signing of Lazio’s Ciro Immobile (valued at £31.5 million by Transfermarkt) who has been in breathtaking form for the Serie A outfit this season.

The 27-year-old’s record this season is quite simply astonishing. After 25 games in all-competitions, Immobile has scored 26 goals and provided 9 assists, and his performances have been a driving force in helping Lazio to defy expectation and climb to 3rd place in Serie A after 22 matches.

Considering Lazio have the chance to qualify for the Champions League this season, it seems unlikely that Immobile would be willing to depart the club for West-London this month, but the hierarchy at Chelsea should at least be enquiring about the possibility of signing him and also adding him to their shortlist of future transfer targets.
