Chelsea fans within the Transfer Tavern are well aware of how bad some of their signings have been for the team this season but none more so than the addition of Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The French midfielder arrived with a huge price-tag but the signing was filled with excitement rather than doubt. Having been one of the best Monaco players the season before, The Blues were hoping that French pair Bakayoko and Kante would form a formidable partnership, sniffing any trouble away as soon as it happened. Unfortunately though, this didn’t happen. After a brilliant debut, Bakayoko’s career at Chelsea has gone steeply downhill and now his future at Stamford Bridge looks to be over.
Chelsea cannot afford to make another big-money mistake like Bakayoko but it wouldn’t be a bad move from Antonio Conte’s side to target a current Monaco player in the form of Fabinho. The Brazilian is valued at £36.00 million on Transfermarkt and again has been brilliant for the French side this season. The dominant midfielder is Monaco’s enforcer and this season having played in 38 games thus far, Fabinho has scored 7 goals and created 5 assists for his teammates.
The Blues are certainly hoping that their signings will perform a lot better compared to this season’s additions such as Danny Drinkwater, Ross Barkley and most importantly Tiemoue Bakayoko.
Us punters believe that signing Fabinho is the right decision because at 24, the midfielder still has time to improve his game although he is already a top player now. Chelsea haven’t been anywhere near their best and so having a good transfer window this summer will drastically improve their chances of success come next season.
