Here in the Transfer Tavern, Chelsea fans are still very much enjoying the performances of their talented Brazilian winger, Willian. The 29-year-old has played tremendously well for the Blues in what has otherwise been a disappointing campaign for Antonio Conte’s men.
Having secured Willian from Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala in 2013, just months prior, the Brazilian was playing his football for Shakhtar Donetsk. He made 140 appearances for the club and proved to be a real fans favourite. If the success of buying players who have been at Shakhtar continues, the next man Chelsea should target is Bernard – valued at £14.40 million on Transfermarkt.
With the 25-year-old out of contract this summer, it could be the perfect time for Chelsea to pounce on another Brazilian bargain. This season, the tricky winger has featured in 29 games in all competitions and scored 10 goals within that time as well as adding four assists. Bernard is a very nimble, agile player that might be small and seemingly weak but he makes up for it with exhilarating pace and constant chance creation for his teammates.
Eden Hazard appears to be heading out of Stamford Bridge and even Willian has been linked with a move away amid his spell-binding performances of recent weeks.
Bernard wouldn’t require a fee but Chelsea would be making a good acquisition even if it appears like a cheap move. His form is constantly on the rise with this season being his highest goalscoring tally since being with Shakhtar Donetsk. Adding more flair to the Chelsea set up would only be considered as a good thing and us punters hope this move pushes through.
