Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern still can’t put their finger on how Conte’s side will line up when they face West Ham on Monday, it may still depend on incoming signings, but they have been given some hope in their chase of one of the Italian’s top targets.
Antonio Conte has been chasing Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly all summer in an attempt to add to his defensive ranks, but has as yet been rebuffed at every attempt.
However, reports from Italian publication, Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) are hinting that the Blues may still be able to strike a deal for the 25-year-old.
The reports state that the Italian outfit have a €50m offer on the table from London which they are yet to accept, but only because they have so far failed to secure a replacement for the Senegalese international.
That would suggest that should a replacement be found then the door would be opened for the Blues to finalise the deal and bring their man to the Premier League.
Chelsea fans, all hope is not lost! Do you think you’ll get your man? Let us know in the comments below…
