Roman Abramovich has found himself in a difficult predicament.
Indeed, the Russian’s greatest asset at Chelsea in Eden Hazard linked with Real Madrid. Even more damning is the transfer ban forced upon his side, which restricts him from doing what he does best – buying players.
Well, Chelsea are planning with hopes that the transfer ban will be lifted soon, allowing them to sign a proper Hazard replacement. While a similar sensation from Lille in Nicolas Pepe is on their radar (as per the Daily Mirror), an even better signing would be the Premier League experienced Philippe Coutinho.
According to reports last week from Telefoot (via Calcio Mercato), the Blues are chasing after the Barcelona wantaway. Signed for £121.5 million, poor performances and inconsistency mean the Spanish giants could perhaps be tempted. Regardless of his underwhelming form this season, Coutinho’s excellent work in the Premier League can’t be discredited.
During his time with Liverpool, he used to be their prime source of inspiration with his dazzling work in the final third. Similar to Hazard, he thrives in speeding forward with the ball, as his dribbling ability and trickery caused many defenders nightmares in England.
He’s also capable of scoring majestic goals all by himself, much like the Belgian.
If his stunning act against Manchester United recently proved anything, Coutinho thrives playing against English opposition. The Premier League’s where he’s most accustomed at, thriving under the more direct style in England. The Brazilian’s the complete package to continue the magic at Stamford Bridge, making life without Hazard much easier.
