Chelsea plotting mammoth bid for £65m striker

Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are getting more and more excited about the new season and to see how Antonio Conte shapes his side over the final weeks month or so of the transfer window.

According to reports in the Liverpool Echo, the Blues’ boss Antonio Conte is preparing to lodge a £50m bid for Everton striker, Romelu Lukaku.

Although the bid will be below the Toffees’ valuation of £65m, and therefore it will more than likely be rejected, however our astute Landlord reckons that the plan is to test the nerve of the Belgian forward and get him to force the move through from his end.

The 23-year-old left Stamford Bridge for a fee of £28m in 2014 and has gone on to score 45 goals since making his move to Goodison Park permanent.

The Echo reported that the powers that be in West London are keen to bring the Belgian international back to the club who brought him to the Premier League.

Chelsea fans, we want to hear from you! Do you think Conte can tempt Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge? Let us know in the comments below…
