Chelsea prepare big offer to land target before deadline day

With deadline day looming, the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperately hoping the club can continue to strengthen this summer.

It’s been a rather slow few months for the Blues in the bar, though they’re hopeful Antonio Conte’s paper thin squad will be added to before the start of September. So, reports from the Sun have gone down well today.

They claim the Premier League champions are prepping a £32m offer for Leicester City star Danny Drinkwater, despite his reported £40m valuation.

The 27-year-old has been touted as a target for the west London giants for quite a while now as Conte looks to add more options to his engine room and the player himself is understood to want a move.

The Foxes will reportedly sell if the money gets to the right level and, with just a week to go, Chelsea are believed to hope this offer is more of a compromise in an attempt to push a deal over the line.

Hopeful of seeing him reunite with N’Golo Kante, our west London locals are eager for the deal to be sealed.

Landlord’s Verdict:

While not the biggest name, Drinkwater would certainly strengthen Chelsea’s options in central midfield. Backing up the likes of Cesc Fabregas, he’d be an excellent option to turn to in an effort to stretch games late on.
