Chelsea preparing £20m raid for Premier League striker

Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been scratching their heads all day, questioning the logic of their incoming manager, Antonio Conte as he has earmarked one of his Euro 2016 squad as a major target this summer.

One of the bar staff picked up the Telegraph this morning and they are reporting that Conte is looking to bring Southampton and Italy striker, Graziano Pelle, to Stamford Bridge this summer.

According to the Telegraph‘s Chief Football Writer, Sam Wallace, Saints have valued the 30-year-old, who only has a year remaining on his contract at St. Mary’s, at up to £20m.

That valuation has sent a group of Saints fans over in the corner of the bar into hysterics, in stark contrast to the Chelsea fans by the dartboard who really don’t know what to make of it.

The Landlord was quick to point out that whilst Pelle, who is a fan favourite on the South Coast, would be a miss, Saints are yet to get the best from Charlie Austin, who could well be a natural replacement for the Italian international.

Should Chelsea meet the valuation for the former Feyenoord forward then the accountants at Saints will surely be rubbing their hands together once again.

Chelsea fans, we want to hear from you! Is Pelle the sort of player a club of Chelsea’s stature should really be looking at? Or do you trust in Conte’s judgement? Let us know below…
