Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been watching Conte’s Italy closely in Euro 2016 so far, and have thus far been impressed with the enigmatic manager!
Chelsea are reportedly ready to make a third bid for Belgium and Roma midfielder, Radja Nainggolan, according to the Mirror.
The Blues have already had two bids rejected by the Italian side for the 28-year-old holding midfielder, who has been impressing at this summer’s Euros in France after scoring a stunning winner over Sweden in the group stages.
Incoming Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte, has made the signing of Nainggolan a priority heading into the new season, but Roma are standing their ground and are waiting on a bid of £31m to let their star man go.
Nainggolan could well be the missing piece for Chelsea, someone to hold everything together and allow the likes of Hazard and Willian to have more freedom going forward, a role in which Matic was largely disappointing last season.
The Belgian international can also contribute going forward when needs be, having chipped in with six goals for Roma last season.
One thing Chelsea might want to consider is adding a smoking terrace to the player’s lounge after Nainggolan’s international boss, Marc Wilmots, revealed last week that the midfielder could have smashed up his room without a few cigarettes a day!
