With Alvaro Morata impressing, the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are really rather happy now.
Though the club record signing missed a great chance against Tottenham Hotspur in his full debut after a relatively difficult pre-season, he’s certainly starting to impress the Blues in our bar.
Having bagged twice in three games, as well as recording two assists, the former Real Madrid man looks a very good replacement for Diego Costa. Indeed, according to the Daily Mail the latter has been the subject of further talks between his current club and Atletico Madrid.
Costa looks to be on full-blown strike after being told he’s got no future in west London, though the report suggests an end to this unsavory saga is getting closer.
They claim a fee of around £40m plus another £10m in add-ons is close to being agreed for the 28-year-old marksman, who is understood to have started the process of moving his belongings from England over to Spain.
Having helped Chelsea to two Premier League titles in his three years with the club, the La Roja star is a popular – albeit a controversial one – here in our bar.
Still, the fact his exit is seemingly getting closer is being cited as a good thing amongst our drinkers.
Getting Costa out as soon as possible is of paramount importance. The bad feelings surrounding his saga will undoubtedly be having a determinantal effect on the squad, so letting him go ASAP is crucial.
