There is some head scratching at the bar here in the Transfer Tavern as Chelsea fans come to terms with calciomercato.com’s revelation that Antonio Conte is keen on former Liverpool attacker Suso.
The Spaniard is now in Serie A with AC Milan, whom he’s impressed with, after failing to make the grade at Anfield under Brendan Rodgers.
The Northern Irishman used the 23-year-old frequently in the opening stages of his time on Merseyside, but he quickly fell down the pecking order at the club before being shipped off to Almeria on loan in 2013/14.
His spell in his homeland did little for his Liverpool career as the club let him leave to join Milan for a modest fee of around £1m in January 2015, but calciomercato.com are now reporting that he could be handed a route back to England by Conte.
Indeed, they suggest that the Italian wants the playmaker this summer and that initial talks have taken place regarding a transfer, albeit it’s unclear if these are internal or between the parties involved.
Milan value their man highly, with a price-tag of between €25m (£21.7m) and €30m (£26.1m) on his head.
Suso would be a wise signing for Antonio Conte – agree?
