This could be incredibly interesting news for the Chelsea supporters who are waiting to be served in the Transfer Tavern. After a difficult time of late, the Blues in our bar are feeling rather down so desperately need something to cheer them up.
Well, according to the Daily Mirror, Chelsea are observing Aaron Ramsey’s contractual status at Arsenal, with an eye towards making a move for the experienced Welshman.
The Blues have already signed Olivier Giroud from the Gunners, and they even attempted to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who favoured a move to Liverpool. Ramsey has had another important season for Arsenal, contributing to 14 goals in the Premier League – scoring six and registering eight assists.
The 27-year-old has a year remaining on his current deal with the FA Cup holders. The Welsh midfielder has been an ever-present figure for Arsene Wenger, amassing 320 appearances and scoring 54 goals for the Gunners.
Chelsea are in desperate need of a midfielder who can score goals – as Frank Lampard famously did. However, the Blues already have too many players who can operate in midfield, especially if Ruben Loftus-Cheek returns to the club at the end of the season.
