Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are getting excited about a possible new arrival at Stamford Bridge, despite already seeing a bid rejected for their target.
The Daily Star states Antonio Conte’s side have seen a bid of £27m for Atalanta midfielder Franck Kessie rejected by the Italian outfit, with the deal broken down into an initial payment of £21m and a further £6m in bonuses.
Dubbed the next Yaya Toure, 20-year-old Kessie has attracted the attention of Europe’s top sides for his performances in Italy and a decision on his future could be made in the coming days, following Ivory Coast’s exit from the African Cup of Nations.
Kessie is believed to be keen on a move to West London but does not want to force a deal through, whilst Chelsea are prepared to offer the youngster back 0n-loan to Atalanta until the end of the season.
Our landed believes that Atlanta’s resilience will break with the right offer, although he does feel a transfer may have to be delayed until the summer.
The Chelsea supporting punters by the bar here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping Conte can somehow secure a deal for Kessie, with them all agreeing the club should be looking to secure the world’s best talent early doors, before other suitors come in.
