Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening are using the news that their side has stepped up it’s chase to bring in another midfielder as an excuse for a celebratory Monday night pint, and we think it’s a pretty good excuse.
Brazilian journalist, Jorge Nicola (via Sport Witness) is reporting that Kia Joorabchian, who has been heavily involved with Chelsea deals in the past (including the deal which saw Abramovic buy the club in the first place), is in Brazil in order to meet Santos’ Thiago Maia.
Should he be able to talk the midfielder, who has already rejected moves to Europe, into joining the Blues then the powers that be at Stamford Bridge are ready to offer Santos £15.3m for his services.
The 19-year-old is currently in training ahead of representing his nation at this summer’s Rio Olympics and could announce himself on the world stage with a good run of performances.
Chelsea fans, we want to hear from you! Surely this guy must be good if Chelsea are sending people to Brazil to speak to him? Do you think Joorabchian can talk him round? Let us know below…
