As the Chelsea fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern wax poetic about the nature of life under Antonio Conte, they were quite delighted over the course of the weekend as the Blues returned to winning ways.
So, news that a striker is seemingly set to leave Stamford Bridge this month as a deal edges closer has struck fear into our west London locals upon first hearing it. Still, luckily for them, it doesn’t have anything to do with a certain Diego Costa.
Instead, according to Daily Telegraph journalist John Percy, Patrick Bamford is set to leave SW6 on a permanent basis after 5 years on the Blues’ books. Currently on loan with Burnley, the 23-year-old is reportedly set to return to Middlesbrough, where he enjoyed a lethal loan spell back in the 2014-15 season.
Despite his standing as a hugely talented young (and English) striker, the former Nottingham Forest youngster has endured a reasonably stagnant few fears amid stuttering loan stints with the Clarets, Crystal Palace and Norwich City,
As reported by Percy, the former England U21 star will reportedly have a medical today as his return to the Riverside edges ever closer.
