One thing we at the Football Transfer Tavern all agree on is that Chelsea need to sign a striker this January and the Mail Online report that they could be set to do exactly that, luring Sevilla’s Alvaro Negredo to Stamford Bridge.
The Spanish international is believed to be available for a fee around the £15 million mark. The forward has long been admired by Rafael Benitez and is seen as an ideal partner for Fernando Torres who has hinted at returning to his fantastic best before a string of underwhelming displays again.
The champions of Europe have long been linked with a move for Atletico hitman Radamel Falcao, yet with a host of suitors after the star and Atleti intent on keeping him until at least the end of the season, Chelsea are now keen on looking elsewhere.
Andalucia is evidently that place and Negredo could be set to bolster the Blues attack which has been depleted further with Daniel Sturridge set to sign for Liverpool and Romelu Lukaku set to remain at West Bromwich Albion on loan.
The striker has netted 52 times in 112 games for Sevilla and has found the back of the net 11 times in only 12 appearances this term leading the Blues to feel he is the man for them.
