Reports suggest that Maurizio Sarri will target a new striker to replace Alvaro Morata in the January transfer window.

The Spaniard was brought to the club last summer by former boss Antonio Conte for a club record fee from Real Madrid. However, Morata failed to fulfil expectations during his first season in charge and now looks set to be axed by Sarri in January. According to reports, the Italian has lost faith in the forward to lead the line during their charge for the title.

Many names have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge including Mauro Icardi and Edinson Cavani. However, both PSG and Bayern Munich are unlikely to sell their prized assets halfway through the season. Therefore, the Blues should attempt to sign Real Madrid star – Gareth Bale.

Valued at £81m by Transfermarkt, the Welshman was widely tipped to leave the club this summer after falling out of favour with Zinedine Zidane. However, the Frenchman decided to depart the club and was replaced with Julen Lopetegui who has endured a difficult start to life at the Bernabeu. Following their dreadful start to the campaign, Bale could surely be tempted to move back to the Premier League.

The Wales international set the league alight during his time with Tottenham and would add another dimension to the Chelsea attack. Partnering Bale with Eden Hazard could give Chelsea the firepower they need to beat Manchester City to the Premier League trophy. A global superstar arriving at Stamford Bridge could also see the club benefit off the field with Bale possessing huge marketing potential.

Chelsea are one of the few clubs who could afford his services – Sarri should put this move in motion.
