Chelsea fans here in the Tavern will be hoping for a better season next time out, as well as improvements in the transfer market. This summer will be a big one for the Blues future, can they keep Eden Hazard and who could they bring in to push for the title once more?
Last summer’s signings have been some of the more disappointing players in this Chelsea team thus far. One particular name who stands out as being below par is Tiemoue Bakayoko, valued at £36.00 million according to Transfermarkt.
The Frenchman arrived at Stamford Bridge with much anticipation and after his debut playing without full fitness, the Blues fans were loving him and questioning – Who’s Matic? Unfortunately, this is now round the other way as Nemanja Matic has had a terrific season for Man United, whilst Chelsea are stuck with the rather average Bakayoko.
Most recently, the 23-year-old was sent-off and has since found it difficult to wiggle his way back into contention for Antonio Conte. Therefore, our fans around the bar deem it necessary that Chelsea should cut their losses on Tiemoue Bakayoko before it is too late. He is still a good age and does have a lot of time to improve but currently, Chelsea need quality players within their ranks and Bakayoko just isn’t fitting that criteria.
Chelsea have been stung by players leaving too early before. To name a few, Kevin De Bruyne, Mohammed Salah and Romelu Lukaku have all left the Blues whilst struggling, to now becoming some of the Premier League’s top players. Of course, there is the risk that this could happen again with Bakayoko but after his recent performances, we think Chelsea should say au revoir to Tiemoue Bakayoko.
What do you think – Is it too early to judge or is Bakayoko not good enough?
