Chelsea should move for exciting £7.2m-rated defender to help build for promising new future

The Chelsea fans within the Transfer Tavern are desperately hoping that their signings provide an element of quality this time around after the majority of summer signings made last term have not worked out.

Chelsea have themselves to blame after a dreadful transfer window over the course of this season has seen the Blues drop out of the top four. A number of positions need urgent attention if Chelsea are to recover their form and push once more for domestic success.

The signing of Davide Zappacosta hasn’t worked out, among many others, and so targeting a young, upcoming right-back to challenge Victor Moses is something our punters would love to see. A name mentioned is Frenchman Nordi Mukiele, who is valued at £7.20 million on Transfermarkt.

Mukiele is a 20-year-old right-back who plays for Montpellier and he has been solid all season and during the course of his 36 appearances so far. 15 of those games have resulted in clean sheets kept and as well as playing in the right-back position, the Frenchman can play centre-back and even as a defensive midfielder.

Chelsea have the platform for Nordi Mukiele to make a real name for himself in the Premier League and considering how well he’s played so far in Ligue 1, his future looks very bright. The Blues are going in the opposite direction to the defender after a poor season but an inspired young signing could go a long way in restoring fans optimism around the ground.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Right about now, Chelsea fans will be happy with any signing they make considering their lack of transfer activity transfer activity in recent months. The Blues are very much still a top team but it wouldn’t be the worst idea to have one eye on the future by signing a player of Nordi Mukiele’s ability.
