Chelsea fans will be delighted after Ross Barkley netted a stoppage-time equaliser against Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho returned to his former stomping ground, but it was the Blues who took an early lead through German defender Antonio Rudiger. After the interval, United hit back with quickfire goals from Anthony Martial which seemingly handed the Red Devils all three points. However, Barkley’s late strike gave Chelsea a valuable point when all hope seemed lost.

The result sees the Blues lose ground to both Manchester City and Liverpool in the title race but continued their excellent start under Maurizio Sarri. Chelsea remain unbeaten under the Italian’s leadership, and Sarri will no doubt be pleased with the fight his team showed. To keep pace with City and Liverpool, Chelsea would be wise to strengthen in the January transfer window.

One man they should be targeting is Barcelona winger – Malcom. Valued at £40.5m by Transfermarkt, the Brazilian was one of the world’s hottest properties in the summer following an exceptional season with Bordeaux in France. He was seemingly set to seal a move to Roma but instead joined Barcelona at the last minute. However, the winger has played just 25 minutes of football in La Liga, and reports suggest he could angle for a move in January.

A quick, skilful winger – Malcom would be a perfect fit for Sarri’s system at Stamford Bridge. He scored eight goals and notched 12 assists in all competitions last season highlighting his obvious quality. His direct running and trickery would give the Blues another dimension in the attack; Malcom would be a nightmare for Premier League defenders. Still just 20-years-old, the Brazilian is developing and will only improve under Sarri’s tutelage.

If Barcelona aren’t willing to give him a chance, their loss can be Chelsea’s gain in the New Year.
