Chelsea somewhat shocked the footballing world by eliminating Liverpool from the FA Cup, following an impressive 2-0 display at Stamford Bridge just the other night.
The Blues deservingly advanced further into the competition while Jugen Klopp’s decision to deploy a slightly rotated squad turned out to be the wrong move, given the result. Indeed, while the Reds losing two games in a row is a fairly big deal considering their form this season, The Athletic’s Simon Johnson believes that this Chelsea victory was their best result under Frank Lampard at the Stamford Bridge in the entirety of the ongoing season.
He immediately tweeted about it on his Twitter account.
#CFC's best result under Lampard at Stamford Bridge this season. Has come at a perfect time for everyone at the club.

Regardless of the squad that was deployed in the clash, it’s really difficult to disagree with Johnson on this one. After all, a weaker Reds side beat Arsenal in the Carabao Cup, as well as Everton in the FA Cup, and the likes of Sadio Mane, Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Joe Gomez were all playing.
It’s not every day that you beat the Reds and in fact, only a handful of teams have done so in 2019/20 so Lampard should take pride in this result given home form has been a concern at times.
Chelsea fans, do you agree with Johnson’s big statement about your team? Is this really Lampard’s biggest home victory in the ongoing season? Let us know in the comments down below!
