Chelsea slapped with €20m asking price by Euro giants over top defensive target


The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been waxing lyrical in raucous debate over all manner of stars linked with the club ahead of the seismic arrival of Antonio Conte in the Premier League this summer. 

With major squad changes at Stamford Bridge widely expected, the Blues have been mooted as a potential landing spot for a plethora of talented continental players this summer.

One of those in particular is Fenerbahce defender Simon Kjaer as the Italian looks to restructure a once formidable backline upon his arrival.

The Danish international has excelled in Istanbul since joining the Turkish giants from Lille last summer, leading to speculation he could be of interest to the Blues.

Now, according to Turkish outlet Fanatikthe club have slapped a €20m price tag on the 27-year old amid financial uncertainty as they fear the dreaded FFP sanctioning.

That equates to around £15m for the vastly experienced Dane, who has also played in the Bundesliga and Serie A during his journeyman career thus far.
