There wasn’t a dry eye in the house at Stamford Bridge earlier as John Terry addressed the crowd after the final game of the season with Leicester City.
That’s a trait that has carried on into the Transfer Tavern this evening as the Blues face an anxious wait as to whether or not their legendary skipper will remain with the club next season.
As reported by BBC Sport, the 34-year old addressed the crowd and confirmed he wanted to stay in West London beyond the course of this summer.
He has been offered a new deal, though it will be in a ‘different role’ and the former England captain has confirmed he will be mulling it over.
‘We all want the same thing’, he said to the crowd who were chanting his name in an effort to get him to stay.
‘I want to stay, the club knows that, the fans know that.’
Terry had been linked with a lucrative move to the Chinese Super League, though is debating whether or not to accept the club’s offer of a further 12 months.
Should Terry have been offered a new deal sooner? Have Chelsea missed the boat?
