The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been in utter delight ever since John Terry penned a new deal with the club, drinking the bar dry in rampant celebration.
Now it is official the 35-year old will be sticking around, the Blues in the Tavern have been anything BUT blue as they wax poetic about just how good the stoic Stamford stalwart can continue be.
Considering the fact just a week ago the defender had seemed set on a move lucrative move to China, it has been a remarkable development and welcome surprise.
Praising the skipper doesn’t appear to be something solely limited to the fans too, with his teammates also praising the fact he has extended his stay under Antonio Conte.
The Italian will arrive over the course of the summer and while Terry is expected to undergo a change in role, teammate Gary Cahill has heaped praise on the West London legend.
‘All the lads are very happy, I am sure the fans are very happy, so it is a great ennd to the season in that respect’, the England international told Sky Sports.
‘But, for us, I just echo what everyone is thinking: A great boost for the club.’
‘Although it kind of dragged on for a while, it has been sorted now and we look forward to him being part of this squad like he has been for many, many years. It is fantastic news.’
How much will Terry play next season?
