The resident Blues in the Transfer Tavern are enjoying life under Antonio Conte so far this season, but they are growing increasingly concerned with the uncertainty regarding Hazard’s contract situation.
Considering how the season has begun, Chelsea are going to need a special campaign to catch league leaders Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table. However, Chelsea’s form in recent weeks suggests has given the fans lining up the bar in the Tavern plenty of optimism for the season.
The performances of Alvaro Morata and Eden Hazard have been pivotal to the club’s success so far, and Chelsea will need their forward pairing to remain free from injury until the end of the season if they are to become champions of England once again.
Whilst the short-term future has the potential to be incredibly positive for The Blues with four trophies still to play for this season, their long-term aspirations could be jeopardised in next summer’s transfer window.
According to reports in The Times, Hazard is stalling on signing a new contract in order to encourage Madrid to come calling for his signature in the near future.
Although his departure would be a cataclysmic blow to everybody at Stamford Bridge, the move may well be in the best interests of the Belgian’s personal legacy and status in European football.
Hazard is undoubtedly one of the best players in world football, but he has not always commanded the same level of appreciation as the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar and even Aguero.
However, this could all change with a move to Los Blancos.
If Hazard wishes to become regarded as one of the top players in world football and be held in the same bracket as the aforementioned players, then he needs to make a switch to Madrid and prove he is capable of replicating his brilliant Premier League form in La Liga.
With Ronaldo coming towards the end of his career at Real Madrid, Zinedine Zidane will be looking to secure a replacement who can fill the void left by the Portuguese superstar.
There is certainly no better way for Hazard to elevate his reputation than by moving to La Liga and ensuring Madrid’s unbelievable success in recent years continues after Ronaldo’s departure.
