It took a while for Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern to cheer the name Alexandere Pato, but having seen him finally strut his stuff at Stamford Bridge, he’s become a bit of a fans favourite.
Good news then, are reports in the Daily Mirror that the 26-year old forward could be set to extend his stay in West London beyond the course of this season.
He arrived on loan from Corinthians in January and had to wait 64 days for his debut, before coming on and scoring against Aston Villa a few weeks ago.
Antonio Conte is set to takeover at the fallen champions of England this summer and there are doubts about Diego Costa’s long-term future with the club.
With change on the horizon, Pato insists he wants to remain with the club that brought him back to Europe following a stint back in his native South America.
‘I know that I still need more games to show my value.’
‘I feel that my body and mind are strong. My aim is to stay here in Europe and continue at Chelsea.’
The former AC Milan prodigy also backed the new man to do well with life in the Premier League once he arrives from his national post after Euro 2016.
‘Conte will do very well here.’
‘He’s a guy who has a real desire to win. He revolutionised Juventus, winning a lot. I am sure that it will be the same here.’
