Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are quietly debating one piece of gossip in the corner of the bar, which suggests the players at the club are trying to push through a deal.
The Sun states Chelsea’s stars are urging Antonio Conte to seal a deal for Manchester City outcast Joe Hart this summer, if current first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is snapped-up by Real Madrid.
Hart, who is spending the season on-loan at Italian outfit Torino, is surplus to requirements in the eyes of Pep Guardiola and will not force his way back into the squad upon his return this summer- despite the poor performances from Claudio Bravo.
Guardiola will instead eye a move for a new goalkeeper and Hart is likely to be sold on a permanent basis – and Chelsea players want him to move to Stamford Bridge, if the Premier League leaders lose the services of Belgian international Courtois.
Courtois, who spent two successful seasons on-loan at Atletico Madrid, is keen to return to the Spanish capital and join Real Madrid – with his wife and daughter still living in Madrid.
Our landlord believes Hart would be a capable replacement for Courtois but believes Chelsea may find it difficult to land the goalkeeper from Manchester City, who may be reluctant to sell to a direct rival.
A handful of Chelsea fans by the pool table here in the Transfer Tavern admit they’d love to see Joe Hart at their club, but somehow can’t envisage Man City selling a player to a direct rival anytime soon.
