Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have found themselves discussing the future of their goalkeepers in recent weeks and the debate on potential replacements has continued today.
One reported target for Chelsea, as per The Daily Star, is Spanish goalkeeper Diego Lopez, who is spending the season on loan at Espanyol from parent side AC Milan.
The Telegraph is indicating, though, that Chelsea could look to break that loan deal if they lose Asmir Begovic to Bournemouth.
However, Lopez himself is keen to remain at his current club until the end of his loan deal in June but admitted he does not know what the future holds after that.
“It affects me positively. This kind of news is good for me because it’s a recognition of my job. But beyond that I am calm and focused on Espanyol until the 30th of June. Hopefully we can prolong our relationship after that.
“Nothing is going to happen until 30 June and from there AC Milan and Espanyol will have to give a step forward but I have repeated what I want.”
Our landlord believes Chelsea will have to look elsewhere for a new goalkeeper as he cannot see Lopez moving this month, which has sparked a fresh debate in the bar.
