While last season was largely a prolonged celebration for the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, this summer has proved rather frustrating indeed for the Blues in the bar.
Indeed, Antonio Conte has yet to truly add to his squad and, with title rivals such as Manchester City already splashing the cash, the Italian really could do with some reinforcement. So, imagine just how well reports from the Daily Telegraph have gone down today.
They claim the future of reported target Alex Sandro is set to become clearer this week. The Brazilian – strongly touted as a big name option in the wing-back role – is understood to be heading for talks with Juventus over his future ahead of next season.
Though the Serie A champions are understood to want to keep a hold of him, Chelsea will reportedly be able to offer upwards of £100k-p/w and the former Porto man is said to be open to the idea of playing on these shores. PSG are another club believed to be in the frame, though the report suggests the Blues think they have an advantage.
Further talks between all parties are expected today, with the SW6 giants thought to be aiming for a breakthrough.
One of the best full-backs in world football over the past season or so, Sandro’s potential arrival has certainly cheered our local Chelsea fans right up indeed.
