With the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern nervous ahead of their meeting with Liverpool tomorrow, they’ve taken to drink to try and take their minds off their trip to Anfield.
Should the Blues win, it’ll be hard to see them not winning the Premier League title, so their journey up to Merseyside takes on a huge importance in deciding the potential complexion of their campaign. So, further transfer reports from BBC Sport have proved a welcome distraction.
They’ve revealed the west London giants have submitted a second bid for Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon, reportedly in the region of around £3.5m. Having already seen one snubbed, those at SW6 seem to be hell-bent on luring the Scot south of the border to operate as their second choice, should Asmir Begovic leave.
It would be a return to England for the ex-Sunderland stopper, who played for the Black Cats between 2007 and 2012 and the Chelsea fans would be happy to see him brought in as a backup.
Our Bhoys in the bar are hoping and praying the 34-year-old doesn’t make a move away from Glasgow, such is the nature of his importance to the cause in green and white.
