Chelsea touted for £13.6m Premier League raid that’d ease squad fears

With the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern desperate to see Antonio Conte bring in some more players, they’re eager for as many rumours and reports as possible.

Indeed, the Italian has only a paper thin squad at his disposal in west London, so the Blues in the bar face what is hopefully a busy period between now and the end of the summer.

So, reports emanating out of Italy have gone down rather well today. According to Corriere Dello Sportthe Premier League champions are weighing up a potential move for Southampton defender, Cedric Soares.

The Portuguese international is understood to be valued at around €15m – roughly £13.6m – a relative snip in today’s market. Chelsea are thought to be keen, with the former Sporting Lisbon man able to operate as a wing-back.

Barcelona and Juventus are other parties credited with an interest in the 26-year-old, who’d be a popular signing amongst our punters.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Cedric would be an astute addition, if not a particularly inspiring one. He’d be able to provide cover and competition for Victor Moses, giving Conte another body for a much busier campaign this time around.
