Chelsea transfer saga set to continue as PL rivals prepare fresh bid

Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern this evening are wishing all the best for Asmir Begovic, who could leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

The former Stoke City goalkeeper moved to west London in summer 2015 as backup to Thibaut Courtois and although he’s performed well when called upon, his game-time has inevitably been limited.

The Bosnian international made 25 appearances last term but is stuck on six for the current campaign and the situation looks unlikely to change, with Courtois widely billed as one of the top goalkeepers in world football.

Bournemouth were reportedly keen on signing the 29-year-old in January but no deal came to fruition as Chelsea’s pursuit of his replacement – Craig Gordon – proved futile.

According to Mirror Football, however, the Cherries are ready to go again for the £10million-rated glovesman – their current No.1, Artur Boruc, has conceded eight goals in two games since the winter transfer window slammed shut.

Seemingly keen for more game-time and set to enter the final two years of his contract in the summer, an end-of-the-season departure seems more than likely.

Chelsea punters in the Transfer Tavern are disappointed to see Begovic leave, but accept his time in west London is probably coming to an end.
