Rumours had been rife over the Magpies striker and his future, with Chelsea making moves to talk to the player over the weekend, yet it had been claimed that the deal was in fact stalling due to wage demands and fees for both Ba’s agent and five members of the Senegal international’s family.
This had led to speculation that the player would not be making a move to the Stamford Bridge club, yet with Chelsea tabling the £7.5 million required to land Ba, it seems that the player will be putting on a Blues shirt after all.
Ba has become one of the hottest properties in football since signing for Newcastle in 2011 and with 13 goals already this term, not to mention 16 last season, the 27-year-old is the forward everyone wants to land.
Chelsea are of course in dire need of a forward, especially given the departure of Daniel Sturridge to Liverpool and Fernando Torres still not convincing everyone. With Radamel Falcao reportedly unavailable until the summer at least, Chelsea have moved for the next best thing in Ba.
