Sense has finally prevailed at Chelsea at long, long last.

If Maurizio Sarri preferring the underperforming Gonzalo Higuain over Olivier Giroud wasn’t illogical enough, the club management were under threat of losing the Frenchman to sign the Argentine permanently, as per TuttoSport via BeSoccer last week. However, even Roman Abramovich’s seen through the stupidity of that potential exchange.

Instead, Chelsea have convinced Olivier Giroud to stay. He's been handed a new contract which will see him remain for at least one more season, thankfully. Indeed, even better news, Higuain, on the other hand, is getting sent back to Juventus immediately, according to Il Bianconero.

Well, this is the correct move for Chelsea, who are not only trusting the striker with Premier League experience and superior chemistry with the squad but also one who can guide the youth.

Indeed, Giroud’s experience at the top means he can hone Tammy Abraham or Michy Batshuayi’s talents. Both strikers are returning after prolific loans and with the transfer ban ruining their plans, should form the make-up of their attacking line. Excitingly, Chelsea can rotate their unique set of strikers to make good use on different occasions.

The World Cup-winning Frenchman can help them improve their striking instincts, including the hold-up play, use of his physique or how to be more conniving in the final third.

With all three working in tandem, there shouldn’t be a “striker’s crisis” anymore. Chelsea will themselves benefit from this smooth working partnership and enjoy its rewards when all three strikers start bringing goals in bulks.
