Maurizio Sarri was the man Chelsea chased for much of the transfer window and after getting off to a good start under him, the future looks a lot brighter at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian has proven himself in the Serie A and now Chelsea are quickly seeing his managerial qualities that could be enough to get the Blues back in contention for the top four.

Maurizio Sarri, in order to give Chelsea the best chance of doing that, recruited four new players.

However, their last campaign highlighted a lot more issues than that and a goalscorer should have been one of their top priorities this summer.

As Chelsea were interested in Gonzalo Higuain, (who is valued at £49.5 million on Transfermarkt) it’s hard to get your head around why they didn’t pursue his signature.

The Argentinian has been scoring bags of goals throughout his career and especially during his time in Italy with Napoli, Juventus and now AC Milan. Alongside an attacking force of Eden Hazard and Willian for example, Higuain could have easily adapted to England and continued to bang in the goals.

Higuain is a lot closer to finishing his career than Morata is but that shouldn’t stop Chelsea from recruiting a man who is a proven goalscorer.

Maurizio Sarri likes his team to express themselves and play attacking football and with great movement and finishing ability, Higuain is the striker the Blues had to secure this summer.

With no out and out goalscorer at the club due to Alvaro Morata’s mixed form especially, it is crazy to think that Chelsea didn’t pursue a player like Gonzalo Higuain to get them the goals in order for their top four dream to become a reality.

Do you agree that Higuain would have been a great signing... Let us know!
