While their leaky defence has been the most talked about aspect of Chelsea’s indifferent start to the season so far, the Blues in the Transfer Tavern have been left with something else to think about.
Eden Hazard, who was previously the darling of Stamford Bridge, has revealed he’s not a huge fan of the position he’s been deployed in under Antonio Conte’s stead.
The Belgian is largely used on the left of an attacking three, though recently hinted he would prefer to move inside and act as a No.10.
Conte currently has the likes of Willian, Oscar and Cesc Fabregas to use in those roles, giving the Italian somewhat of a selection headache.
‘I think I have more freedom offensively. For Belgium, we have full backs who run hard and create a lot of space, which is good and I like to play there.’
‘I don’t know if I will play there at Chelsea. You need to ask the manager! I play on the left hand side and I try to do the best I can.’
No matter where he plays, the Chelsea fans propping up the bar will be desperately hoping to see and upturn in his performances going forward.
The former Lille man was in truly majestic form as Jose Mourinho won the league title two seasons ago, though has struggled to even slightly replicate that level ever since.
Still, Belgium boss Roberto Martinez moved Hazard into the middle at international level, something that proved a good move as he notched twice over the international break.
Where would Hazard be best suited to playing? Let us know below…
