Yet another win has had the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern dancing on the pool tables as they extended their lead to seven points.
Antonio Conte is the darling of SW6 as his masterful tactical tinkering looks like restoring the sort of solidity that defined Jose Mourinho’s first era in west London, much to the delight of the Blues propping up the bar.
So, with so much optimism around the place right now, reports from the Daily Mirror have given our drinkers some food for thought.
They claim Stamford stalwart John Obi Mikel is in talks with French side Marseille over a move to Ligue 1 upon the end of his deal.
The 29-year-old is entering the final six months of his deal at the club he has spent over a decade with, winning pretty much every competition along the way during his trophy-laden 10-year stint there.
However, he is yet to feature under Antonio Conte at all this term and Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr is quoted within the report, revealing all about his talks with Les Phocéens.
“I saw Obi Mikel in London. He is in advanced discussions with Olympique Marseille”, he said.
“He will leave Chelsea for free, this is a serious option.”
