It’s been a week packed with debate for the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern following the really rather dismal 3-2 opening day loss to Burnley.
The problems appear to be mounting for the Blues in the bar, who are seriously concerned about a repeat of the dreadful 2015/16 campaign under Jose Mourinho. With that in mind, reports from the Sun have gone down well.
They claim Antonio Conte has been holding meetings since the loss at Stamford Bridge in order to try and create some team spirit ahead of a crunch clash with Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Sunday.
With only a paper thin squad to choose from, exacerbated by the suspensions of Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas, the former Juventus coach is understood to have been holding a series of meetings to help clear the air.
Indeed, the Blues’ lack of activity in the transfer market is said to have been brought up in one such meeting, held at the club’s Cobham training base ahead of their London derby at the national stadium.
As you can imagine, our west London locals are absolutely desperate this works.
The start to Chelsea’ title defence has all the hallmarks of another nightmare campaign, so Conte needs to find a solution quickly.
Having seen just what can happen under Mourinho, it’s imperative the Blues are on side and all fighting for the same cause, especially ahead of their visit to Wembley.
Hopefully for Conte, it’s sorted out soon.
